Bug: soft lockup on CPU #0

Edgy amd64 cannot shutdown cleanly. The above message is displayed and the shutdown stage is stopped. The relevant informations are:

tjpp@ubuntu:~$ uname -a

The filesystems is not umount cleanly as well.

Further search on the bug reports refers to this bug as related to usplash. Removing usplash does the trick.
