No Sound-Confused....

Asked by minigwar

Ok guys i am sorry if this is a repost, but I am utterly confused. When I originally installed Ubuntu i meant to dual boot with windows, but I guess i did it wrong, and there is only Ubuntu on my computer. So I've decided to stick with it. My problem is this:
I have no sound
My Sound card : nVidia Corporation MCP51 High Definition Audio

I am extremely confused on how to extract files and run them(For instance I tried using a file from ALSA and I extracted it to my desktop, but I can never get it to run).
So if you give me a link to a DL, could you by chance explain on how to extract it and run it, and everything to do.
I know I am a total n00b, but please help me out
Thanks
minigwar

This bug appears to be a request for support, rather than a bug. As a result, I've converted it to a question, which is the appropriate place to file support requests.

Well you will probably need to do several things. As I am not sure exactly what it is you did download

perhaps you can post what the file was called ( The whole name)

that you downloaded and we can maybe figure out what to do.

So what file did you download - The EXACT NAME ( if it ends in something like .tar.gz then say so)?

What reason did you have for downloading it?

What version of alsa have you now got installed?

I realize this may be frustrating but Please answer the questions. No-one can help if you don't.

If, instead, you just keep doing something else then people will not waste their time.

This is FREE software and FREE help.

probably be in bed when you read this!!!!!

Can you help with this problem?
