I need to open a .cab file.

I have a .cab file, I need to open it but don't know how. I have a powerpc with feisty (7.04) ubuntu installed.

Install the package cabextract.

In your Terminal do: "sudo aptitude install cabextract"

Please be aware that there are two types of CAB files: Microsoft MSI, and InstallShield. 'cabextract' works with Microsoft MSI, and 'unshield' works with InstallShield.

Both can be downloaded from the Ubuntu repositories.

*but*... unshield is currently broken for the new InstallShield CABs. I just found it, and I am still to gather more data.
