Epson sx420w series drivers

Asked by Geo.Watson

When I try to setup my Epsom SX425 Inkjet Wireless Printer I get as far as:-

Additional Drivers

Driver search results
EPSON Epson Stylus SX420W

Epson Inklet Drier for Linux(version 1.0.0)[Recommended]

Epson Inklet Drier for Linux(ersion 1.0.0)[Recommended]
Not tested by the Ubuntu deelopers

This driver is not activated [ Activate ]

When the activate button is pressed It starts to activate then:-

It stops and says "Sorry, the instillation of this driver failed "
......for details . /var/log/jockey.log
thelast line of which states:-

"2012-07-31 19:41:42,579 ERROR: Binary package epson-inkjet-printer-nx420 has no trusted origin, rejecting"

A window then comes up "Choose Driver"

Stylus SX415(recommended)

If I select this I get a series of FF. And the printer spews out paper.

If I select Stylus SX215 the Black printing is OK but te colour printing is offset.

Can anyone help?

When I used "lsb_release -a ; uname -a"
I got :-
george@george-Aspire-3610:~$ lsb_release -a ; uname -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

Thanks
For all the help.
My main complaint was

It's Epson, not Epsom.

What is the output of:

lsb_release -a; uname -a

Thanks

On this page http://avasys.jp/eng/linux_driver/download/lsb/epson-inkjet/escpr/ you can find esc/p-r which is a driver for Epson that covers many printer models (including the one you listed), you can download the .deb file of you build architecture and use gdebi installer or the ubuntu software center to install it (personally I prefer gdebi) I did use this driver a year or two ago and it does the job albeit a bit lackluster. It does however prevent your printer from becoming a brick on a stack of paper. I hope this helps out.

Epson provides a driver for this printer, you need to manually install the deb package in Ubuntu:
