I can't have ubuntu with windows

Asked by Adam Davies

When I am on the partitioning part of the installer it wouldn't show me the "guided- resize the parition and use the free space". I have 12gb of free space and my laptop meet all the specs.

For freespace to show up, it needs to be un partitioned space, not unused space in your primary partition.

First booting from Windows please perform a scandisk (check space and data) and fully defrag your windows partition.
After boot from Ubuntu live install cd and manually launch the System->Administration->Partition Editor
Select your Window partition (NTFS) right click woth mouse and resize it, please create at least 5 giga of free space then click "Apply" windows toolbar button. The partition editor resize the windows partition and it will auto close itself.

After, click on install desktop icon and when the system ask you answer (select)
guided - use the free space

Hope this help
