Xubuntu terminal crashes

When I try to run the Terminal in xubuntu 7.10 it crashes and goes to the login screen.

Processor: Intel Celeron
RAM: 512 MB
Hard Drive: 40 GB

I've experienced this issue in the past - and I believe that it's likely due to video driver/configuration issues. I can't provide a fix, but a workaround is to use xterm instead, by pressing ALT+F2 and typing xterm then Run.
