i am using ubuntu 7.1 and i was wondering if the partition settings get put on the the live cd and if there is a way to reset the cd.

1: There is no Ubuntu 7.1, I will assume you meant 7.10. :)

2: No, the partition settings for your particular system do not get saved to the Live CD.
   The Live CD is readonly -- you cannot change anything on it without rebuilding the image, which is something that generally only developers and distro authors do.

3: Given that the LiveCD is readonly, there is no way (or need to) to reset it either.
