Restart and Shutdown logs me out on 12.04

Asked by Felix Kay

I have Precise now for some time. Everything works okay so far. But......restarting and shutting down does not work. It locks me out instead. At the logout screen I can do a normal shutdown/reboot.

A fresh installation of precise did not help solve this problem.

Thank you for your help,

Felix

It seems this can be solved by running these three commands (as suggested here: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/112527):

gconftool --recursive-unset /apps/panel

pkill gnome-panel

sudo reboot

I just wonder, what is the cause for my Ubuntu reacting like this... even after a new installation....

So far, so good.
