cannot print with hp deskjet 648c

I am a new umbuntu user. I cant get my printer to work. it prints test page and then if u send a job it cycles through all of the paper in the printer. I tried the preloaded driver for the printer but havent got anything to print so far.
I also cant get my home page, comcast.net to load. It keeps clicking and trying but never gets anywhere. If I look comcast up under search, it will load from google or yahoo. I like umbuntu, but I'm a little lost.

Have you a fresh Ubuntu Dapper?

For 2 different problems, please open 2 different bugs, it'll be more simple for helping you :)
