Will not upgrade from 10.4 LTS to 12.4 LTS

My computer has 10.4 LTS and I know that 12.4 LTS is available, but when I run Update Manager it does not recommend an upgrade. How do I get my computer to upgrade to 12.4 LTS

To upgrade from 10.04 to 12.04 you would be safer to burn a live-DVD and use that. Please note that upgrading is not always data-safe, so ensure that absolutely everything is properly backed up. Also, we advise using the 'Try Ubuntu' option from the boot DVD to make certain that your hardware is OK with 12.04. This release is far more demanding of graphics hardware and will not run properly on some machines. Also make certain you remove the no password option if you normally use this. You may need to get to the login screen after the upgrade.
