How do I install grub for part.2?

Having much trouble w/ installing Ubuntu to an external USB drive, so I decided to change the partitioning on one of the internal drives. I installed Ubuntu to that internal drive (part 2 for / and part 3 for swap) - everything looked okay, but when I re-booted there was no grub - the machine just booted to Win XP...

How do I install grub so that it finds Ubuntu on hd1 partition2?

I worked a little with grub last night - it does not seem to know about all my drives...
