system recognised as laptop

after update to 12.04, system is recognised as laptop. How do i perform change to desktop?

What do you mean? What messages are you getting that say it is recognised as a laptop? What version did you upgrade from? Please give full information so we can understand the problem you are having.

I upgraded from 11.04 recently online to 12.04. When i open system
settings and go to displays to adjust the settings, i find laptop
displayed. I tried to change to desktop by clicking on
                          " Launcher placement " (from"laptop" to "all
displays"),nothing happens. it remains laptop.

And clicking on 'detect displays' in the 'displays' window still detects a laptop? If that is the case, I think it needs reporting as a bug. I'd like to hear what others think?

Yes that's what happens.

I have a 2nd. question.

How do i configure and activate screensavers? can't see any in "All
settings- Appearance"
