CD won't boot

Asked by mavsman4457

When I go to boot up in Linux it just hangs on a screen with a blinking underscore. It does not get into the installation at all so I think I burned the disc wrong. I burned the CD using Roxio Creator Classic on a CD-R. It said something about floppy emulation or no emulation when I burned it so I just left that alone (as default it was set to floppy disc emulation). I have burned two seperate discs, with the same content on each, so it is not the simple problem of a faulty disc. When I go to disc contents it has a BIN file and the Ubuntu.iso file. I have tried booting on a Dell Dimension 3000 and a Dell Dimension XPS T700r.

When burning your ISO image, you can't simply drag 'n' drop it in your CD burner. You should follow a procedure named "burn ISO image" or similar. When it is burned correctly, you should be able to see several files and folder in your CD.

Thank you. This worked out perfectly. I went to http://www.govideo.com/index.Asp?GV=CDWriteHelp for instructions on how to burn the cd.
