Radeon HD1850 compatible driver?

Asked by caitscheverst

We have a ATI Radeon HD 1850, and can't get the fglrx, radeon hd, ati or plain radeon drivers to recognise it. We're stuck with the generic vesa drivers and can't get the resolution right, and bits of desktop keep falling off the side of the monitor.

Does anyone know the best driver to use to solve these problems, or how to solve these problems independent of drivers?

Many thanks,

Jason

Hi !

you can try to install the radeonhd driver, which is the new open source driver resulting from the move of AMD to open its graphic cards specs. It is pretty new and lacks functionality for now, but it is definitely better than VESA.

you can get it from here https://launchpad.net/~tormodvolden/+archive

You can also give Envy a try : http://albertomilone.com/nvidia_scripts1.html

Can you help with this problem?
