Adobe Acrobat 8.0,

Asked by Kirk Rad

I need adobe acrobat 8.0, the version that is available from adobe website is .RPM, where can I get a .DEB version? Is there a Full version Acrobat Professional available for Ubuntu?

By the way thank you for the great OS, you have created, as soon as I take my environment into production I will certainly start donating money to Ubuntu.

Hi !

Add the medibuntu repository to your repositories see http://medibuntu.org

to do that, the easiest way is to enter the following commands in a terminal

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

an editor will pop up. add this line to the end of the file

deb http://fr.packages.medibuntu.org/ gutsy free non-free

then save and close

in a terminal enter the following commands

wget -q http://fr.packages.medibuntu.org/medibuntu-key.gpg -O- | sudo apt-key add -
sudo apt-get update

now open synaptic, hit reload, and search for "acroread"

that should do.

by the way, medibuntu contains others useful packages, such as codecs , google earth and others....

Hello Oliver,

Thanks for your response on this issue. unfortunately it did not work. I did edit the "sources.list" file and inserted the string as you instructed. But the "wget" command returns "gpg: conflicting commands" error message and terminates the processes.

Here's what was entered for the "wget" command:

wget -q http://fr.packages.medibuntu.org/medibuntu-key.pgp -O- | sudo apt-key add -sudo apt-get update

I believe this is what you asked, right? But it doesn't work and terminates with error message mentioned above. Please clarify. Thank you for your help.

Yes, I will download the Acrobat 8.0 as you instructed, but I still would like very much to add "Medibuntu" to my repository. There is so much there that I can use. So I would like to resolve the issue with the "wget" commnad. Please clarify.

Thanks for your help

You have to enter that first :

wget -q http://fr.packages.medibuntu.org/medibuntu-key.gpg -O- | sudo apt-key add -

then type enter

then enter that

sudo apt-get update

and hit enter again.

Does that work ??

And you should install acrobat from the repository, as it will be upgraded automatically this way when newer versions come out
