Remove Login Screen Gnome Keyring

Asked by Arnold Cohn

I can not get access to my Ubuntu system. After connecting a USB floppy drive reader to the computer, the Login screen suddenly began appearing. It had not apperared before. I am confused as to why this Login screen suddenly started appearing. I have tried every password I know, without results. I can not get into the system. I am only an end user, no technical knowledge of Ubuntu. (See below for update)

Can someone provide information to eliminate and /or bypass the login screen and password requirement. I think it has something to do with the Gnome Keyring? I don't know what this means. I have tried the "Auto-Unlock Keyring Manager In Ubuntu Intrepid", the the screen displays do not reflect the instructions. Also, need to enter a password, which is the problem.

Would the following help: rm ~/.gnome2/keyrings/login.keyring ? How would this be entered with the Login screen preventing system entry?

Also, the "Wireless Connection" displays, yet the machine is not connected to the internet. I disabled and then enabled the connection. I now have Ubuntu interenet access with the cable connected to the router. However, I still need the password to attempt any management functions. I can get into the Ubuntu for internet access from my router, but
I can not perform any system functions, as the Synaptic Systems Manager.

Can someone help me to eliminate the Login screen and password requirement from my Ubuntu system.

Thanks!!!!!
