How do I get my Brother MFC 4800 to print on Ubuntu?

Asked by henrydamian

I have a Brother MFC 4800 fax/printer. Every time I want to print something, it does not allow. How do I install the CD that came with the Brother MFC 4800 into my Ubuntu OS?
New question:
I installed the lpr and cups wrapper, now when I try to print something, a message reads:
Not connected? Printer 'MFC 4800' may not be connected

Hi !

you cannot install windows drivers in linux. Have a look at http://solutions.brother.com/linux/en_us/

and tell me if that helps. you need to install the lpr as well as cups wrapper corresponding to your printer. select the debian packages.

Tell me if it helps

If you read french, you should be able to adapt this to your printer model

Yeah, this is not really plug and play....
