Conexant HD Audio doesn't work

I just bought an HP Pavilion DV9000z Laptop with Connexant HD Audio. The sound doesn't work. I checked the ubuntu forums and many other people are having the same problems with similar HP and Compaq Laptops.

None of those are compatible with my 64 bit kernel so that doesn't work.

Maybe it would save some time if you could post some of the forum links you have already seen. Did any of them find a solution (even a convoluted one)?
