In Kubuntu install,"Prepare Partitions", manual partitioning step, how can a partition be marked for formatting?

Asked by Mark Sharrock

Installing Kubuntu 7.10, I reach the stage in manual partitioning "Prepare Partitions".
I have filled in the table headed Device, Type, Mount Point, Format?, Size, Used.
On clicking Next, a dialog pops up that says / must be marked for formatting.
I cannot discover any way to mark the / partition for formatting, and so cannot continue any further.

I think there should be a checkbox in the "Edit Partition" dialog that could be checked if formatting is desired.

Hi !

If I remember well, there is actually a checkbox, but in the main view of the partitioner and not in the "Edit Partition" dialog

Tell me if that helps

Thanks for the reply. The "Format?" column of the table on "Step 4 of 6" does
contain what appear to be checkboxes but they do not respond to mouse clicks.

Perhaps that is the problem?

that's odd, did you try double clicking? or maybe the file system isn't supported, what type of partition you want to format? you can't format windows nfts partitions for example, you need to switch them to ext3 or fat32 filesystem.

Several very quick double clicks finally did it. Thanks.
