install from cd 6.06

I can't find the install for the Ubuntu version 6.06 LTS. I have tried rebooting with the cd in the drive, autoplay There is no instalation for the Ubuntu software. I have installed firefox and the rest of the programs on the cd but no OS. Do I have the wrong cd? I want to use this software because of major issues with Microsoft. I changed my hard drive because it quit working and because I did that my installation disc is no longer any good and I have to buy a new OS disk wrong answer. I want to use this. I am currently running xp pro where or how do I install Ubuntu from the cd I have because I don't see it on the cd. Please help.

Hello. Thank you for your question.

To install Ubuntu, put the CD into your drive and reboot the PC. After booting from the CD-ROM-drive, the CD will show a small menu where you can start the Live CD. After booting up the Live CD there's an icon on the desktop called "install". Double click it, follow the instructions, wait some seconds and here you are. ;)

If you have any futher problems tell us! (Sometimes you need to configure your BIOS to boot from CD. If you need to do so, first try to press F8, F10 or F12 several times while booting. Then you often have the possibility to enter the boot menu and specify that you want to boot from CD-ROM!)

You must force your computer, from BIOS setup, to boot from the Ubuntu live install cd...
