ubuntu GUI

Unknowingly i removed some packages from synaptic package manager by selecting remove completely option
now i can login to the system but there is no GUI menu and desktop options available but i can use terminal

again i installed kde desktop
but still facing the same issue
i can login but no desktop options

could any one pleeeze help me to solve this issue which package i should install to solve this issue
Im a nebie using ubuntu

Can you try '$ sudo apt-get --reinstall install kubuntu-desktop' in Terminal and paste any errors that you're receiving?

Thank you fr ua response
I upgraded to ubuntu 11.10 now its all right but the kubuntu splash screeen still exist
And there are some issues while using key board short cuts ...the whole desktop disappears when i click on alt tab
immediately after i logged in and it is wrking fyne after some time.

Can you help with this problem?
