You should check your onboard Video card drivers.Search the google and ubuntu forums about 965L video card.If you see something wrong, then you should probably edit you /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. The file is contains information about your video card drivers and monitor setup.Just check the configuration that you found on google. Then you can ctrl+alt+backspace to restart x , actually to try the new settings. If you cant turn x after you change settings and come up with console, then you can "sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg".If you want to edit your xorg.conf file in konsole mode, you can "sudo nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf".In nano you can save settings by "ctrl+o" then "enter", and you can quit with "ctrl+x".Then if you want to try to start x , you can type "startx" in console mode.

Can you help with this problem?
