Card Reader sometimes working

Asked by Edmond

11.10 (64bit)

My internal card reader (connected via internal USB) only works sometimes. Ubuntu recognizes it properly:

"Bus 001 Device 007: ID 058f:6362 Alcor Micro Corp. Flash Card Reader/Writer"

The inbuilt bluetooth is working out of box and without problems.

I tried to load "usb_storage" but it doesn't help. Seeing my card reader working is still just a matter of luck. Many other threads show me, that this is a main issue:

How can I solve the problem?

If you get to a stage where the device doesn't work, then run:

sudo modprobe -r usb_storage; sleep 2; sudo modprobe usb_storage

Does it then work?
