What is the exact error message. It may be the repositories you are trying to download from cannot be connected to at the moment.

I've having the same issue when I try to install VMPlayer. When I try to select it I get a message that "The list of applications is not available. Click 'Reload' to load it. To reload the list you need a working internet connection". The options I have available are Refresh and Close. When I click Refresh I get a message that a download is occurring, 6 files are downloaded (it happens so quickly it doesn't appear that a download is happening). Then I'm back at the same place I started. I'm never able to acctually get a check mark beside the VM app. My internet connection is working before you ask.

I found out that the computer still thinks ur running off the cd. what you have to do is go to synaptic package .manger. Then go to settings.then repositories. make sure boxes are checked from software restricted upward...then close synaptic and try again.
