Is there something like benchmarks for DVD Ubuntu?

Asked by Piet Beukes

Hi, Perhaps this is a question which should be addressed to another forum and of a more philosophical nature, but I am curious about the question. If I need to ask it at another forum, please direct me to it.
The question:
Having used a Kubuntu DVD to install GG, and experiencing a number of problems which could have been bugs or not, I wonder if the DVD which I bought and used for the installation, was really up to standard. Is it possible to know? Is there something like a benchmark or standard for a DVD regarding what should be there on it and that it is working correctly? Is there any way to know the answer or to test it?

You can check the DVD for errors or problems by using the provided menu entry after booting from this DVD. This only checks whether your DVD was burned correctly and isn't corrupt or not. It does not check whether it's the latest or not.

On the menu there is a item or place to check for errors - I did that and it stated that no errors were found. So I guess there is no problem on my DVD. - however I am experiencing a lot of problems as is with the installation from this DVD - perhaps it is due to my inexperience in installing linux.
