GUSTY Installation Problem: Integrated/Dedicated Display Clash

Asked by Saad Bin Javed

I came across this problem while trying to install Gusty from scratch. Here is my setup:

Intel Integrated Graphics -- Disabled in BIOS
ATI PCI 9200SE -- Which I use for primary display

From dapper onwards my liveCD would crash and take me to prompt. "dpkg-reconfigure-xserver-xorg" and change the driver section from i810 to ati usually did the trick. With Gusty I don't even get display-config-gtk...No prompt. Any help getting around this?

I just get a black screen with no cd rom activity.

P.S: I checked the cd at a friends place. Worked fine.

Try if you can get a prompt by pressing STRG + ALT + F1. Then you can use "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" to reconfigure your X-server.
