Synaptic does not generate install script

Asked by Mark Onderhil

Hi,

Searching for "generate installscript synaptic ubuntu missing" in Ubuntu forums I came across this msg
There's an option in Synaptic to create a package download script for the files you want to install. Although the script wouldn't run on a Windows machine (as far as I know), it does give you a list of URLs which you could then feed into a download manager.
alas, it's just that it does almost nothing, it only generates "#!/bin/sh" where I expected all my installed packages to appear. Is this a bug or don't I have a necessary package installed?

Running Ubuntu 7.10, Synaptic 0.60ubuntu5 -- do you need more info?

Thanks,
Mark

you have to first select the items you wish to install (right click and mark for installation). once you have what you want marked you can make the install script.

Thanks Gord,
I faked a re-install of everything, and then the generate script button: et voilà, everything!
So problem solved, though there might be a wish to be distilled from this.
