Please help me with my ubuntu 7.10 problem

Asked by SuzCreamChees

Hello, I am pretty new to this OS. Everything has been going fairly well, up until lately. Whenever, I leave the computer on for more than 30 minutes to an hour, without touching it, the system completely locks up. Please let me know what I need to tell you to get this problem solved. Any help I can get is greatly appreciated.

Thank you...

OK...I disabled those two settings. Thanks for the idea, I hope it works...I will let you know. As for the processor fan...its a brand new computer, so do you think it could be the processor fan?

No, if you have a new pc, i hope the processor fan is clean from dust and that is working good.
I tell you this suggestion because into old pc sometimes the proc. fan is working bad, it may be this the cause of lock..., the processor temp may go on a too high value and the pc freeze.

Try also to perform a memory test from GRUB startup menu (press esc at boot when you see the GRUB row and select from list).
