How do you setup a duel boot with Kubuntu and Ubuntu

Asked by SnoopaLuke

I want to learn the differences between KDE and GNOME. I figured I'd install Kubuntu and Ubuntu. I know setting up a duel boot with windows and Ubuntu is easy, but how do I install Kubuntu on an Ubuntu system? Does Kubuntu have the same partitioning program in it, is it that easy?

To learn or view differences between Gnome and Kde you can simply boot your pc using the:

Ubuntu 7.10 desktop live install cd, with Gnome: http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download

or using the

Kubuntu 7.10 desktop desktop live install cd, with KDE: http://www.kubuntu.org/download.php

without install them on your system.

When you have choose the window manager and you are ready to install, click on install desktop icon.
The install procedure are similar, and kubuntu also have same partitioning program.

If you want to have on the same Ubuntu Gnome and KDE window manager installed first install Ubuntu 7.10 and after you can simply install kde by installing the "kubuntu-desktop" meta package, then at Gdm startup (when you will see the login screen) you will be able to choose the Kde or Gnome window manager.

Hope this help

simple
first install kubuntu
then install ubuntu
while u r installing kubuntu u will be asked if u like to share the ubuntu usr account and it is ur choise. if u like to share then after installation u can see the files u stored in kubuntu. i suggest u install ubuntu first.
u can do the other way too ie. installing ubuntu first and kubuntu

BUT THE BEST THING IS TO DO WHAT marcobra HAS TOLD U ABOVE. u can easily switch between kde and genome
