Please press CTRL+ALT+F3 login with your user and password, if you can, then type:

sudo apt-get -f install
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get --reinstall install ubuntu-desktop
sudo apt-get --reinstall install gdm
sudo apt-get --reinstall install xserver-xorg
cd /etc/X11
sudo cp xorg.conf xorg.old
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
sudo reboot

give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter.
