Kubuntu 6.06 to Kubuntu 7.10

I have been using kubutu 6.06 successfull for the last few months as a new convert. If I wanted to change to 7.10 would I have to a) remove 6.06; b) run in tandem as I understand it is not possible to update.

Well you sure can update to Gutsy, but you have to upgrade Dapper to Edgy to Feisty and then Gutsy.
