Asked by Sidarth Dasari

Hi, I need to compress a bunch of files to send to my friend on a windows machine. For the sake of simplicity (on his end) how do you compress to a .zip file?

right click on the folder which you want to compress, select "create archive" from the menu. A window will popup. write the file name and select the extension as zip

Try to install http://pagesperso-orange.fr/coquelle/karchiver/

Please open a Terminal from the menu Applications->Accessories->Terminal and type:

sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install karchiver

give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter.
