Dual booting ubuntu with vista (vista installed first)

Asked by jagriff

I have finally got a decent copy of Ubuntu version 7.10, and I followed the instructions on how to dual boot vista and ubuntu with vista installed first from http://apcmag.com/5046/how_to_dual_boot_vista_with_linux_vista_installed_first ; and I got down to the last step (step 7) and the migration assistant was supposed to say windows vista/longhorn loader, but it dose not say anything. Everything else on this page seems right though(correct swap and other partitions). I cannot afford to loose the ability to log onto my vista partition for school stuff, so should I NOT install Ubuntu? ( I also cant afford to spend days on trying to figure this out, at least until summer)

Any guidance you can give a nubie would help greatly!!!

The Migrate Assistant helps you migrate your Bookmarks, Wallpaper, Documents, Music and Pictures from your Windows.
Actually you can still log in on your Vista, it only copies your things into your Ubuntu.
