Disapearing Package Manager

After updating my sources.lst from the generator site, the synaptic package manager will open up and then shut down within a split second. What is causing this?

Can you post the contents of your /etc/sources.list? Another thing to try is type the following in a terminal and see what the error message says:

sudo synaptic

use apt or dpkg commands
