Error Too many open files while copying /media/cd...wboy.mp3

Asked by ampload

When I Copy and Paste 60 mp3s from my DVD Ubuntu 7.10 It will only let me paste in my folder 60 mp3 Files then I get this Error Message
"Too many open files" while copying /media/cd...wboy.mp3 ... then I notice that nothing will open up and I cant "shut down or restart my PC.
I also cant open my CD Rom Drive basicaly freezing up my system...I can reboot by Ctrl - Alt - Backspace ..is there a fix for this problem?
does it only allow for only 60 copy & pastes ( permissions ) ?
is there restrictions ? and if so can I change this setting ?
I keep having to reboot so I can paste more mp3 files to my folder.

                                                    Thank You in advance, :)

Keep this question open... but i suggest you a terminal workaround

please open a Terminal from the menu Applications->Accessories->Terminal and type:

mkdir mp3_dest_dir
cp /media/sourcedir/* mp3_dest_dir

Thank you

try to add a sudo cp .....
and then give your user password when requested and press enter.

But i think is a error reading from your source cd, is a damaged cdrom...?

Can you help with this problem?
