Make Rythmebox play my mp3 music

I am new to Linux, using Ubuntu which has a music player called RythmeBox. I am unable to play my mp3 music. I have imported the folder, and see the individual files, but when I select a file and click on PLAY, nothing...... Can anybody offer advise on this?

Have you installed the mp3 codecs? Do you get any error messages? Run rythmbox from console and see if any messages pop up.
