Is easy ubuntu safe?

The various packages in Easy Ubuntu seem very attractive but I don't want to risk my system. So far, I've had virtually zero problems with Gutsy and for a Linux newby I feel really comfortable using it.

Is Easy Ubuntu a reliable program or should I avoid it?

Avoid it cause if it screws something, it screws it very bad. Instead, follow the normal steps of installing softwares from Add/Remove and to follow guides step by step.
