firefox does not load flash content instead shows flashblock icon

Asked by nocibambi

In firefox (2.0.0.8) when I load a page where is a flash content, it does not show, only a flashblock icon. I uninstalled the flashblock extension, but after that it still does not work, and the icon also appears.

Also when I try to sign in to gmail, sometimes firefox silently crashes, or sometimes it only tries to load, but after a while it says:

"This seems to be taking longer than usual.

If you are using a slow Internet connection, you can wait a bit longer for this page to finish loading, or just use basic HTML view for now.

If you are using your normal Internet connection and you usually get past this loading step without any problems, please refresh this page in your browser. If you continue to have trouble loading your account, please visit the help center for troubleshooting information."

I have netscape navigator, and there it works problemless.

Hello nocibambi,

If you don't have preferences you want to keep (or you can reconfigure firefox correctly) you can open a terminal and type :

rm -r .mozilla/

this will delete all your preferences and extensions in firefox but it will completely reset firefox and you should be able to display flash content.

Hope that it helps you.
