Sympatico is a service provider. Ubuntu is a computer operating system.

Sympatico will work with Ubuntu, Windows or Macintosh (I know because I used to be with Sympatico).

When you set up your e-mail with Sympatico, it might not work with using SSL security. You might have to use TLS instead.

Thanks George. I loaded mepis 6.5 instead and am now trying to get the internet going.
However if you can help me to get the internet going, that would be great
