gnome-panel can't be bigger than 120px or 256px?

Asked by Kristopher Ives

I'm developing a gnome-panel applet for a virtual keyboard in Python. Everything appeared fine until I shipped out a few debs and got mixed results becaues gnome-panel won't let them set the panel size over 120px or 256px, which may be either resolution or a difference in Feisty/Gutsy.

Is there a way to configure this limit, otherwise it's retarded.

I think the maximum is 153px, at least thats how far I was able to get the counter rolling via the Properties.
