mp3 files kill programs

Asked by mrm58

Every time I try to listen to an MP3 file, the program that runs it dies after the song finishes (I have tried Rhythmbox and Amarok). It has no trouble playing the first file I select, but when that song finishes, the program freezes up and I have to force-quit it. I have no clue what would be causing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I am relatively new to Linux and Ubuntu. Thanks

This behaviour is better suited for a bug report then a question: crashing software is definitelly a bug, bug reports have better chance to be reviewed by someone who knows where to look for a solution - especially if you specify in the bug report which software is affected.

How did you install the codecs? Did you just open the mp3 in Movie Player and select the required codecs that it found?

Can you help with this problem?
