how do i burn the disk?

i keep burning the disk and then when i put it in the machine that is booting from disk it will not read

First, did you check the md5 hash of you iso and cd? If no, take a look at this page: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM

If none of these solved you problem... is your system bios set to boot from the CD as primary boot device?

Are you burning the disc in Windows or Ubuntu?
