Ubuntu delivers only security updates. Since 2.0.0.9 fixes only a couple of bugs, there will be no 2.0.0.9 inside the repositories.

This answer is disappointing. Version 2.0.0.9 fixed about 200 bugs, and a few regressions introduced by 2.0.0.8. I am aware of Ubuntu's update policy for released versions, but I thought that high visibility apps like firefox and open-office are exceptions and treated differently.

think we should open a bug? if a lot of people reply, it should be marked as "high importance"

There is already a bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/gutsy/+source/firefox/+bug/160895

and a forum discussion:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=601244

but both of them seem to be inactive.
