We can't connect to a DSL-provider - PAP authentication?

Asked by Gergely Máté

Hi,

we are trying to connect to a hungarian dsl-provider. I did a "pppoeconf", accepted every option, entered the username and password. After the process (or after a "pon dsl-provider") there is no network connection. Here is an excerpt from plog:

Nov 19 17:02:03 home pppd[6143]: PPP session is 59788
Nov 19 17:02:03 home pppd[6143]: Using interface ppp0
Nov 19 17:02:03 home pppd[6143]: Connect: ppp0 <--> eth0
Nov 19 17:02:03 home pppd[6143]: Remote message: Access DeniedNoxchange
Nov 19 17:02:03 home pppd[6143]: PAP authentication failed
Nov 19 17:02:03 home pppd[6143]: Connection terminated.

We have called the provider, and checked username and password two times. The dsl modem connects through eth0.

Any idea what can be the matter?

Regards
Gergely

At least another related problem:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kde-systemsettings/+bug/157674

And some related:

Addon information:
on the tek-tips site the DSL provider seems to be the same as mine: t-online.hu .

It turned out to be some special negotiation with the dsl-provider. After changing the connection password at the provider, the connection was working.
