Problem loading Ubuntu on a Dual processor Mother board with a SATA Hard Disk

Asked by krishnarajulu

I have a dual core processor machine with a SATA HDD.When I try to install Linux (Ubuntu,Redhat etc) the installation goes through but while booting, the system either hangs or the resolution is incorrect and unchangeable. Installation is generally done in graphics mode. Should I try text mode ? Or what ?
