unable to install C++ compiler on linux

Please help me here..
I am unable to install C++ compilere on linux
I have done all the steps
$ sudo apt- install g++
keeps on asking me to insert the cd which i did
(in my case- Ubuntu 7.10) I don`t know what to do..
by the way I am using VMware..can somebody help please..

You can remove the CD from the software sources via
System->Administration->Software Sources
You can remove the CD from there.

Probably it is easier for you to install g++ via Synaptic
System->Administration->Synaptic Package Manager

Thanks a lot for the answers,
however, I am not connected to the internet
so I was unable to take the first opition route

I tried the Synaptic Package and it still needs me to
insert the cd...

Well I switch between Windows and linux..what i ment
was, I am not connected to the internet once I switch back
to linux

Try to get network working on Linux. Your other option is to download
the g++ and dependent packages from Windows and then install them one
after each other.
