problems with cdrecord

Asked by saman

I am trying to burn a cd on my box using command line. The problem is that cdrecord comes back with an error message of the CD not being blank(able). I then use a windows box to blank the cd and afterwards have no problem writing to the CD using cdrecord. Is there a way to blank the CD. Does anyone have an idea.

Thanks

I use Brasero to blank cds. Install the brasero package and go to menu Disk -> Blank Disk.

Somethimes, and it is very often when you burn a live CD distro on a CD-RW, the cd is burned as read-only and protected against writing. To fix it, mount the Cd with the -w option like:

sudo mount -w /media/cdrom0

then try to blank it and you will see you will be able to do it.

Hope it helped
