output sound level very low with Ubuntu 7.10

Asked by choukri

hi everyone,

first, i want to thanks all members of the Ubuntu community and GNU in general for the grate efforts they are doing by developing such amazing OS and software, and the support they offer.

Recently i installed Ubuntu 7.04 and it was working perfectly, but when i upgraded to 7.10 the level of the output sound has decreased so that i can hear it hardly. and this is valid for all output sounds ether from music players or video players. the volume control is in the highest level.

for info i have a toshiba a100 and lspci|grep Audio
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02)

I wonder if you give me the details step by step since i'm a new Linux user, Thanks

choukri

is this an overall problem or only with exaile?

if you're using exaile try launching it with the following command: exaile --no-equalizer

Thanks for your answer.
it is an overall problem not only with the music player, since all output sounds are very low. even the login sound i can hear it hardly.
knowing that the volume control is in the highest level.

http://linuxtechie.wordpress.com/2007/10/19/getting-intel-ich8-family-rev-3-sound-card-to-work-in-gutsy/

i recently installed Ubuntu 8.04 LTS desktop Edition(64 bit)
i'm extremely pleased with the OS but for the fact that the audio output is very low, i need to keep all the volume levels at atleast 80 to 90% for me to hear something.
its the same for both cases i.e audio only and with video
i also tried with other music players other than the one which comes with ubuntu ( i tries VLC )

i'm usin a intel core 2 duo 2.2Ghz (E4500) with 2Gb of RAM
my motherboard is a intel DG33FB with a nvedia 8600GT( 1Gb) graphic card

I wonder if you give me the details step by step since i'm a new Linux user, Thanks
