Thanks for the question.

Ubuntu is available for PC, 64-Bit and Mac architectures. At least 256 MB of RAM is required to run the desktop install CD. Install requires at least 4 GB of disk space. See also http://www.ubuntu.com/products/whatisubuntu/desktopedition

Also Kubuntu is available: http://www.ubuntu.com/products/whatisubuntu/kubuntu

For lower specs you may try to use Xubuntu. Xubuntu is available for PC, 64-Bit PC.
CDs require 128MB RAM to run, or 192MB RAM to install. Desktop install requires at least 1.5GB of free space on your hard disk. See also http://www.ubuntu.com/products/whatisubuntu/xubuntu

However, look at the release notes: http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/releasenotes/710

Hope this helps.

No.

Computers need enough memory. A minimum of 256Mb for Ubuntu, but this will be slow.

Some hardware does not work with Ubuntu, although this being dealt with all the time.

I am just scare because i need to use ubuntu but my PC is designed for windows xp/vista.
I am still asking if it is okay to use it. But as i understand I need to have just 256Mb. If it is only this then my problem is solved.

Well, that is just a cheap way of advertisement. Your PC should also be able to run ubuntu. If you are unsure you can always install it as dual boot and keep also your windows. Here is some more information for switching from windows: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SwitchingToUbuntu/FromWindows

256MB Ram is the minimum, more is always better, especially if you like to run several applications simultaneously.

If this answers your question, please set it to solved.

Thanks for your cooperation
