Yeah I am having the same problem, so that probably indicates that the site is down, or at least the problem lies on the repository side.....It isn't a big deal or anything, I just hate having that bright orange icon sitting on the panel because it always gets me a little excited for new features when I see it, but now it keeps giving me false home.......yeah I am quite the nerd....anyway I would also love to hear any info that someone may have on a solution or reason

Raajah, I have been getting the same error messages all day today, too. My error messages are:

W: Failed to fetch http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/s/samba/smbclient_3.0.26a-1ubuntu2.1_i386.deb
  403 Forbidden

W: Failed to fetch http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/s/samba/samba-common_3.0.26a-1ubuntu2.1_i386.deb
  403 Forbidden

W: Failed to fetch http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/s/samba/libsmbclient_3.0.26a-1ubuntu2.1_i386.deb
  403 Forbidden

I think "403 Forbidden" is a significant error message, because I think it came from the Apache web server that handles updates. My guess is this problem involves an incorrect "Permission" level somewhere. I am not a web wrangler, but I take that "403 Forbidden" message to be the equivalent of the update server telling me to "Get Lost!"

This is a problem which I think has to be addressed by someone with "root" privileges on the update server. I also agree, I don't like that bright orange icon sitting there on the screen, either. Especially when I cannot actually make the update happen because for some reason downloading anything to my machine is "Forbidden".

Thank You to whoever fixed this problem, because today, I was able to download the security updates that failed two days ago.

Can you help with this problem?
